Ancient Grain Grits
Ingredients
2 Cups prepared Gruff Ancient Grain Grits.
1 Honey Crisp Apple thinly sliced
1 Cup Black Currant Berries
4 tsp Cinnamon
2 tsp Allspice
4 tsp Coconut Oil
Pure Maple Syrup & Coconut Milk or Cream
Preparation
Bring 2 1/2 cups of water to a boil. Add 2 cups of grits and reduce heat to low. At 6 minutes stir then replace lid. Cook on low for 6 more minutes and set aside. (Or increase water by 1/2 Cup for creamier porridge which is great in this recipe!)
After porridge has rested, stir in spices and coconut oil.
Thinly slice a honey crisp apple.
Wash and stem the berries, if fresh are not available try dried currants.
Divide porridge into 4 bowls, and garnish with apple slices and berries.
Drizzle with maple syrup and top with the milk of your choice. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon if you'd like.
